THIS WILL DESTROY YOU GEARS UP FOR SXSW, LAND TV/FILM SPOTS, PREPARE TO RECORD NEW FULL LENGTH ALBUM



With "Young Mountain" now in its fifth pressing, the meteoric journey of THIS WILL DESTROY YOU continues. This month, the San Marcos foursome will perform at both Ellum Onstage (Dallas music festival featuring The Polyphonic Spree, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, Mates of State, Snowden, et al.) and the annual South By Southwest music festival in Austin. Below is their schedule for the latter:

• March 16, 2007 @ Maggie Mae's w/Hella, Six Parts Seven (official showcase)
• March 17, 2007 @ Monkey Wrench Books w/Hot Cross (no wristband needed!)

This spring, you'll be able to hear THIS WILL DESTROY YOU's music in a few TV shows and films. "DRIVE: NOTES FROM THE WILDERNESS" is a great show run on Fuel TV documenting the life and travels of professional skateboarder Mike Vallely. As big fans of the show and Mike's message, we couldn't be prouder of the guys for their participation in this ongoing series.

Additionally, the band will make their feature film debut in the surf documentary "ONE CALIFORNIA DAY,"starring world-renowned surfing legends such as Tom Curran, Greg Noll, and Lance Carson. Be on the lookout.

Last but not least, be sure to pick up a copy of "City By The Battlefield," the second collaborative skateboarding DVD between Magic Bullet Records, Fredericksburg Skateboards, and brothers Mark and Brent Eyestone. The film's opening sequence is set to THIS WILL DESTROY YOU's "Quiet" and in stores March 27, 2007.

In April, THIS WILL DESTROY YOU enters Willie Nelson's recording studio to track their self-titled second full-length album for Magic Bullet Records. John Congleton of The Paper Chase (and Explosions In The Sky producing fame) will be at the helm. Demos were cut in late February and, if they are any indication, this record will go on to make many ears happy in 2007 and beyond. Tentative song titles include:

The Mighty Rio Grande
Reconstruction/Disintegration
Threads
Wilderness/Prophecy
Hummingbird Hawkmoth

Prepare for an exciting second half of 2007 from these guys. Upon completion of the album, expect comprehensive North American and UK touring.

LOSER LIFE MAKES MRR'S TOP TEN, FINISHES MAGIC BULLET DEBUT



Bakersfield, CA's LOSER LIFE recently learned that revered punk institution Maximum RockNRoll recognized the band's first 7" in their top ten releases of 2006. Additionally, the same issue features a scene report on the Bakersfield punk and hardcore scene written by the band's drummer, a man we affectionately refer to as Panda. Check it out.

"I Have Ghosts And I Have Ghosts" is the 8-song rager that LOSER LIFE has completed for their Magic Bullet debut full length. It will hit stores May 8, 2007. Vinyl will be released by our friends at Going Underground and extra songs from this session have already been released as a new 7" on the Life's A Rape label.

The band will be touring the United States for two months this summer. Please look at their itinerary on MySpace and contact them if you can help out.

AUGHRA: LIVE TENT CHAOS CONTINUES, SPLIT CD RELEASED, FIRST TOUR ANNOUNCED



AUGHRA continues its/his/their(?) reign of live terror and spontaneous micro releases. At show #3 (held this past Saturday in Fredericksburg, VA), audience members were trapped for the duration of a set when the now trademark 10" x 12" tent and wall of amplification was erected in front of the only exit from the venue (behind the audience while they watched a prior band play). As the set kicked in, panic ensued inside while a car smashed through a bridge guardrail outside, sending the automobile into the Rappahannock River. You can't make this stuff up...

Meanwhile, AUGHRA releases seem to be popping up like zits on an MCR fan. A limited DVD titled "A Sleeping Bag & A Shitload Of Acid" (view TRAILER) and split with Poison Arrows came out on UndeRadar, Magic Bullet released a tape called "Midway Monsters" (AUGHRA's tribute to Super Bowl loser Chicago Bears), Meudiademorte put out a Wether/Datashock split with bonus AUGHRA remix, and a 3xCD compilation on Public Guilt/Epicene/UndeRadar should be out any minute now.

On February 6, Magic Bullet released "Is There Anyone Else Outside?", a split CD with MOSH PATROL (Chris from THIS WILL DESTROY YOU). The release marks the first non-obscenely-limited output from AUGHRA and can be found in most independent record stores now.

On March 8, AUGHRA sets out on tour with fellow Virginians SOUVENIR'S YOUNG AMERICA. Dates are available in the tours section of this website and MySpace.

CITY BY THE BATTLEFIELD WRAPS UP, PREMIERES ANNOUNCED, OFFICIAL TRAILER POSTED



CITY BY THE BATTLEFIELD has been completed! The second in an ongoing series of collaborative DVD's from Magic Bullet and Fredericksburg Skateboards, North American release has been set for March 27, 2007.

Filmed over the course of late 2005 and 2006, this installment tracks many of the dynamic characters that make up a small town's skateboarding presence and features a healthy dose of progressive ideas from everyday skaters.

Set to a soundtrack courtesy of Magic Bullet Records & friends (This Will Destroy You, The All-American Rejects, Sparrows Swarm And Sing, Paul Michel, Mosh Patrol, New Idea Society, Forensics, Nitro Tokyo, etc.), CITY BY THE BATTLEFIELD is concrete evidence that while other sports evolve slowly over time and past glory upholds, skateboarding is reinvented daily.

MASSACRE/CONTROL LIMITED BOX EDITION SELLS OUT IN HOURS



Before we could even formally list them on this site, all copies of the MASSACRE OF THE UMBILICAL CORD / CONTROL split (limited box edition) sold out in a matter of hours.

The boxes contained a copy of the retail CD, a cooked spoon, a syringe, a spent bullet round (fired by the artist), and death certificates for Kurt Cobain and Elvis. Customers had to sign statements that they were 18 years of age or older. Upon the overwhelming response to this item, it is still unclear whether or not the artist (Magic Bullet's Brent Eyestone) will be making more for sale.

Copies of the regular CD (no box/paraphernalia, but featuring the original controversial artwork) can still be purchased in our webstore and your local record store this month. Be sure to check out MASSACRE on their exhaustive tour schedule over the next four months, including shows with DARKEST HOUR, ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY, and more.
